Sarvadarshi Insights - Ignorance towards Madhwa/Brahmin run schools

 Its easy to talk loud on world's problems but tough to follow even small problem.


There are quite a lot schools that are run by Brahmins & few are run by Madhwas only. These schools incubate culture and high class education that is needed for jobs. These schools are run with good quality teachers, infrastructure and less fees in comparison to other schools. In-spite of such benefits there is lots of ignorance by parents to admit their kids to such schools. 

Once upon a time in Vijayapura(then Bijapur) history schools like PDJ, V.B. Darbar etc were of huge demand. These schools had good infrastructure that was needed up to year 2000(of course infrastructure of these schools vs modern schools is totally legacy). These schools were popular because of their 'culture' than so called English Education. Most of the lawyers, doctors, engineers emerged out of these schools and serving society in their respective segments. Lets explore whats going wrong from both the sides.

Where schools are missing the boat?

  • Schools are lagging behind in infrastructure, high qualified faculties
  • Efforts lacking in attracting talents
  • Zero marketing efforts (today Rs 1/- shampoo needs advertisements by cinema stars)
    • No proper websites
    • No history of people who educated from here and serving world in different ways
    • No alumni contribution and catch up with them
    • Still hanging around with only news paper for call for admissions
  • Failed to relocate to extension areas where cost of land was cheap and available in abundance
    • They kept themselves within cities where infrastructure overall suffers
    • Did not envision future in 1995 to acquire land outside cities and start schools with big infrastructure
  • Relying on volunteers, temporary staff only for regular jobs (which is not feasible. Volunteer means based on interest and availability only and no much commitments)
  • Lacking attracting young minds to run the educational institutions with latest thoughts and approaches

What is parents mindset?

  • Parents think education vs. culture a lot today. While decades ago it was reverse.
  • Though convent educated people still struggle with getting jobs, no proper communication(corporate organizations spend almost Rs. 1 crore just to give Basic Communication training as per sources)
  • They look at pride vs. what they study
  • Though they dont like to be alone while kids fly away abroad still social pressure kicks in to give them more and more education and prepare for export
  • They look at brand, location, infrastructure and also what modern things they teach
  • Many parents like schools giving hectic assignments/project ( though parents only have to do in cities like Bangalore or there are consultants who do it for price ) if no assignments they feel school is not teaching
  • They feel kids going to Gurukula etc as odd/inferior to their social status.
Given culture drain, brain drain kind of issues, lonely parents getting into depressions, no kids available to benefit from large assets made in cities like Bangalore/Mysore/Mumbai though parents struggled to earn them for whole life, madhwa schools are not gaining momentum - all young think tanks need to work towards solving these problems for future best life and happy life.

Instead of think tanks working in temple to serve food etc they need to outreach people and bring society upward than restricting themselves in talking about 'community issues'.
